I was at the gun store the other day and they had a Tiger on the rack for $2895. Is this right?

How does one tell if its a preban Drag or not? The receiver had Tiger stamped in it and the Izmash markings. The guy didn't saa it was a preban and it looked like new with no scratches and it had that factory oil smell that only brand new guns seem to have. I know that last part seems weird, but I think some of you will no what I mean.

I was just wondering about the price because this guy has been selling preban AK's for $1200 to $1500 and preban AR15'S for $3000. His stuff can be really pricey and sometimes its not.

Is this guy crazy or is it just market price?

Well the term "pre-ban" is now over used and can mean too many things. Originally it meant guns imported into the US before the Pres. Bush ban of 1989. Now it may also mean pre-1994 Clinton crime bill or the 1996 Russian import agreement ban. All Tiger's were imported AFTER 1990 so it's not a preban in the classic sense. However since the import of Tigers are banned because of this (http://www.ustr.gov/releases/1996/02/96-16.html) and would therefor be a "pre-ban" rifle.
Now to the price. WAY too high. That is unless it's the rare "California Armory" variant which has a flash hider and military buttstock and hand guards among other things. But if it's a standard Tiger its about $1000 too high. The Tiger originally came with quite a few accessories so it should have all that with it. If you want a Tiger there are several places you can look on the Internet to find one cheaper.

i guess it depends on how bad you want it.

i will have a nib for sale latter on but.....
it is going to be tricked out with full wooden svd furniture
and hopefuly it will also have a russin mag pouch with 4 10 round mags in it, and svd bipods. just waiting on the "mother land"
to let my goodies get here.

have put the svd stocks on three tigers, but those were already spoken for.
