Are there different muzzle brakes for these rifles?
The first one I saw was a cylinder type with holes drilled into it. But when I got mine it had a "cage" style that was tapered on the ends and with a slight bulge in the middle. Does this vary from supplier to supplier?

The originals are cut kind of like shark gills (like the original SVT brake) and are quite effective. Not sure what thread pitch but some others may fit.

Yes the one I have is quite effective as all the flash seems to go to the sides in an offset triangular shape. I haven't seen the cylindrical type with holes in use, only sitting on display at a local gun shop.

Does anyone know what the outer diameter of the muzzle on the romak III/PSL/ssg99 is ? The threads are 14 LH but I have no tool to measure the diameter accurately . I am going to attempt to modify a brake to stop the muzzle whip to the right that I get when firing.

14LH should mean 14MM(millimeters) LH(Left hand thread).
Hope this helps.

Thank you! I think I can just add a couple of holes or make an extra slot on the right side of a brake to remedy this whip.

Hmm, some must be different than others, after driving the pin out I find that it slips on without threads and is held on by the pin.
