My ssg95 has a single pin on top with some small spot weld to the sight block holding the brake on. Is everyones like this? Are some threaded?
My Romak3 is that way. I don't know if it is threaded under the brake or not though.

I was wanting to experiment (if legal) with some other brakes that I have. But do not want to disturb the one that is on untill I can find out if it's thread and pin,or strictly pinned.
ROMAK 3/PSL barrels are not threaded. They are pressed into the trunion and then pinned in place.

Interesting. Mine, once a small weld was cut, came off it's THREADS very nicely. The were the normal 14 LH. It's back now, with a proper permanant attachment (HT Silver Solder).

Thanks for the info.
A comp would be great, once permanently attached. maybe canted a bit to counteract the sideways whip.
Sorry guys, I misread this thread and thought you were talking about how the barrel mates to the receiver.
I talked to a guy who said he had some improvement in accuracy when he took the brake off and recrowned the muzzle with a target crown. After reinstalling it some of his flyers went away.

Thanks guys, I have no real complaints other than the whip to the right when firing this rifle. Accuracy is great. But we always want more don't we? The re-crowning sounds like a good idea as well.
I know of no restrictions for comps or brakes as long as they are permanently attached.

BTW, does anyone know what the outer diameter of the threaded portion of the barrel is?
