Default Check out the eclectic weapons in this pic....

Talk about a 'varied' grouping of gun types.

Oh, and by the way, if you were curious about the context, here is a short blurb from the article....

Quote:
Africa’s most Appalling Tyranny Tumbles! As direct and logical consequence of Dictator Meles Zenawi’s atrocious deeds in Ogaden, a great number of Ogadeni youth joined recently the military branch of the ONLF, the Ogaden National Liberation Front. They were left with no choice.
So apparently these are Ogadeni minority tribespeople who are being killed by the majority tribes in Somalia. They arm themselves to keep from being slaughtered. Makes sense to me..... Oh yes, but banning guns keeps people safe ....

Looks like an STG*44, M14, Hakim, Carcano, M16 and I believe the subgun with the funky barrel and twin triggers is Italian

That gun with the ridges also appears to have a series of holes drilled into the barrel.

Sad thing is the UN does all it can to keep the guns from the victims while allowing the tyrants and despots full control and free access.

Are you sure it's not a Beretta Mod38 with notches cut into the heat shield?

That is not a "handguardless" M16--if you look you can see a wood buttstock and front handguard further down. I believe it is a french MAS 49/56 auto.

i was just looking at it again and noticed the holes in the bottom, then i realized you were seeing through the vent holes in the shroud making it look that way, and knew right away is was a beretta 38.

then i scrolled down and see that it was figured out already!!

better late than never, i guess.

I remember an old African bush wars vet (former Selous Scout, now retired in Huntington Beach, CA, I used to see him at the gunshows) saying once that he tried to give some quick training to some indigenous militias in a hot zone once, and all the "soldiers" had different calibers ... a good THIRD Of them had no mags or rounds that fit the firearm and nearly all of them only had either one magazine or a handful of rounds for their guns.

What's sad is that we have people really being targeted and eliminated in tribal genocide .... and they'd be SAFE if they had even a FRACTION Of the members of this board watching their backs .... now that's a sad thought.

I gotta buy some more ammo.

I believe that the italians were sent in to take over Ethiopia early in WW2.

possibly use of the "butter knife" principal. why waste a steak knife when a butter knife will do the job? You give soldiers guns that lack mags or any quantity of ammo, let them go shoot a enemy and take his AK after hes dead. You dont need tons of high grade weapons to arm a fighting force.

Powerful picture. Looks like mostly young females trying to defend themselves with whatever they can to avoid becoming the enemies slave property after the majority of their tribes men are dead/missing.

Young females in the USA tend to get weak and break down if they can't have the latest high tech cell phone, fashionable clothing item, or miss a single episode of American Idol. God help us if TSHTF here.

That STG44 doesn't look bad... or rusty. A little Hoppes #9 and a little CLP and it would be just fine.
