So I guess rebarreling them didn't effect their C&R status?

Wow, I remember, (not too many years ago either, maybe 5 or so) when I had my C&R FFL, getting a sale ad from SOG where they had Yugo sks's for $89 each! Man I wish I would have bought a 100 of them! Unfortunately I was super broke at the time and didn't even get one.

With a Yugo bringing that much I'd hate to see how much my norinco sks-m is worth! I could probably sell it for more than a basic AR nowdays. And to think I paid $150 for it with two 30rnd mags, one 50rnd mag a 5rnd mag and about 120rnds of ammo! And I also like the look of the Yugo's withOUT the grenade launcher too. Even though it was factory the grenade launcher makes them look "bubba'd" to me for some reason.

Whos2Kno needs to add one of these to his vast SKS collection.

True, but he collects Ruskie SKSs. I sold him one or two over the years.

I went to a gun show a couple of weeks ago and that seems to be the going price for and SKS anymore. I bet you can get them cheaper, but you have to jump on it.

They were M59's. They didn't have the grenade launcher. It was the M59/66 that had that.

I am not so sure, They have the gas cutoff on the gas block. Maybe they changed out the front sight with one that didn't have the grenade launcher sight on it.

I didn't like the grenade launcher or sight on them anyway. I saw no use for the gas cutoff unless you wanted a heavy straight pull bolt action 7.62x39 rifle

It wasn't taken off,the new barrel was never threaded and the launcher added when it was rebarreled at the factory. The rifles is sort of a oddity due to the fact it has the gas selector valve but has neither night sights or grenade launcher which those additions would make it a M59/66A1.

The gas selector valve is not a compliant parts whereas the grenade launch is and would void the C & R status if it had been remove. Since the grenade launcher was never added the rifle has the same number of compliance parts as any other SKS rifle.
