I've seen some for sale converted. I had the idea a year ago, but hadn't tried. I now have like 8 MG13 mags and I'm itching to see a 8mm AK bump... LOL!
Anyone done this?

I thought about it a few years ago...but I figured it couldn't be done....guess I was wrong.

Sure looks to be a MG13 to me... Assualt Weapons of Ohio, the company that bought ORF, is selling them for $110... I paid $25 aprx. for the mags so $85 for the conversion seems like a lot.
Those are advertised as 28rd mags but the MG13 mag is 25rd. Wonder if they replaced the follower or something and gained the extra rounds? A new follower and the refinish would account for the $85 (material and labor) for the conversion to some extent.

Wish I had a go-by, might have to buy one.
I'm thinking the follower might be a trim and reshape like Chinese AK 10 vs. 5 round mags or the East German 74s converted from 5.45x39 to .223. If anyone has one of these I'd like to see a pic of the follower and close ups of the front & back hook up areas.
I'm looking at a MG13 mag right now and I can see the top area in front of the feed lips is notched. From what little I can see, it looks like the rear has been notched in a lower location on the spine for a hook up to the mag latch. Wonder if they fill welded the upper catch notch or just ground the top of it so the mag latch slips by...
It definently is a MG13 though. Must be like the "25 round" CETME mags that really hold 27 rounds and function.

OK, the MG13 mag is very slightly narrower, the M76 follower is maybe a couple thousands tight.
The spine that the MG13 bolt hold open rides in has the MG13 mag too large front to back to lock in.
The MG13's locking ledge in the front is too low. The one in the back is too high.
Overall this is doable, but is going to take some work in several areas. They may be using M76 followers though.
nobody has one?
Just looking at this one it's totally doable with some dremel/filing work.

That practically demands its own YouTube step by step video. I'm worried that firing such a sustained rate of fire could shoot out the barrel, which isn't chromed to improve accuracy.
I'm still waiting for mine to ship. Maryland is literally going to go through with a ban within days.
possibly consider DROR mags from the Israeli machine gun?? They are still pretty cheap.
