Talk to me about barrel profiles (ar15's)
Specifically the gov't profile. Im looking at building a 16" middy, and am wondering how many favor this over a medium profile barrel? How would the accuracy between the two compare? Is the weight savings substantial/noticeable?
Having handled a very small number of ARs, it is difficult to know what will be too light or too heavy. Thanks for any input.

My 2 midlength AR's use the std gov't pattern, IMO they are alittle heavy for what they are but not so much I didn't buy the second one anyway I would of loved to have a lightweight middy but at the time I bought mine it was something like a $245 upcharge, if it was more economical I would go lighter if I could (say within $50 or so).

I have recently seen some lighter weight middy barrels. My own is fairly heavy and I wish it was lighter. Being a carbine it's is almost as heavy as my 20" HBAR.
