    My new love...

    Savage 116 Weather Warrior 30-06
    Accu-stock
    Accu-trigger
    Nikon 4-12 x 40 Prostaff

Shooting 100 Yards, using factory Remington 150gr core-lokts.

(Blame the 4th round flyer on me, I was getting excited and rushed the 4th shot.)

in total, first trip to the range I fired 60 rounds in 4 shot groups, letting it cool a little after every 8 rounds and pulling a bore snake through it. I have 10 groups less than 1.25", and even after letting the barrel warm up it was still shooting 1.5-1.75".

I tried 180gr core-lokts and some Winchester power points but the groups opened up a little. Over all I'm impressed, I normally struggle a little the first time out with a new rifle, scope, ammo... but this rifle was incredible. As long as I took my time and did my part I could just about keep all of my rounds touching all afternoon. This one is a keeper.

Next up I need to back up a little and see how it does at 200 & 300 yards.

3 shots out of a sporter weight barrel touching is pretty good in my opinion and about as good as it gets.

    Uh, you missed the "X."

J/K. Very nice group. Even with a flyer like that, the deer would still be down.

    How was the recoil?

I'm not a fan of the looks of the savage action, but they sure do shoot.

That was the second group fired at 100 yards. After that I left it hitting 1.5" high of poa. The recoil wasn't bad, it's a light weight rifle and you can feel it but it's not terrible. After 60+ rounds of 30-06, 60 rounds of 30-30 and 500+ rounds of 7.62x39 in a t-shirt I was starting to feel it.
