    Some Unemployment Numbers......

    Unemployed by race:

    Asians........7.1%
    Whites........8.0%
    Hispanics...11.3%
    Blacks.......16.7%*

    ....................

    By age groups:

    Adult women..........8.0%
    Adult men..............8.9%
    Teenagers (Yutes).25.4%

    *Higher among black men. Obviously lower for black women.

    Random 'toid': Unemployment for any group having a college degree is about half of those without.

    I can't prove it, but I think most of those figures are much too conservative.

    No question. Real total unemployment (U 6)* is roughly 16-17%. The above are the so-called 'official' (U 3)* numbers.

    They aren't counting those who have run through the unemployment benifits and still unemployed. Then there's the underemployed - those who are taking part time work but really need full time.

    Yep, I know a couple guys who are back to swinging hammers, who have 10-15 years experience as project managers. To keep working full time, they've had to abandon the jobsite trailer and dust off the toolbelt. But at least they haven't lost their homes and trucks.

    Yes, those numbers don't take into account those who have "retired early" and those who have lost their jobs and simply given up.
