    Stippled CZ-82 Grips

I parked my latest CZ-82 last week and decided not to buy custom grips for it.
I started looking around on different gun boards to get some ideas. I settled on stippling the ugly factory grips. The factory grips are just too slick, especially with sweaty hands.

I took a soldering iron with a fine pointed tip and began making divets. I concentrated the divets very close to each other and then lightly sanded the sharp tops. After about an hour and a half they were done.
After I installed them, there is no slipping and there's a sense that the grips are wider.

Reminds me of one of my wife's purses, you know the one I don't let her take when we go out together

Just joking of course I've seen people do things like that to pistols before that while maybe not the greatest looking really does help in making a slip free surface to hold on to.

I'm not ashamed of her. She, will accompany me where ever I go. Besides, no one will see her unless they are about to get shot. She's really the low-key type.

I'm glad to see someone else seriously applying the CZ-82 to personal defense.

What ammunition do you carry loaded in it?

One mag of Barnaul 94 gr. HPs.
One mag of Barnaul 120 gr. HPs.
I figure if I can't get myself out of a situation with 25 rds., I don't need to carry. LOL

I've never seen the 120 gr rounds. Do you need a new spring to use that stuff?

I have one mag loaded with silver bear 94 gr HP, but my other mags and most of my ammunition is 94 gr FMJ.

They stopped production of the 120 gr. a few yrs. ago. Yep, I have a 18lb. Wolff spring.

    Cool.

Do you recommend the 18lb spring even for standard ammunition? I had thought about using an increased weight spring in order to reduce some of the "snap" when firing it.

Yeah, definitely. I shoot FMJ and HPs with the 18 lb. Functions perfectly.
The spring helps reduce felt recoil.

Do you guys carry those little things in your purses. Just kidding. I have 2. Great guns and very very accurate.

Slamfire I see you're liking that Allegany Parking solution. Have you been able to keep from contaminating the solution or are you just mixing up a new batch each time.

Yeah, it's some good stuff and the easiest refinishing out there, IMO.
I reuse the solution and haven't had any problems with oil contamination.
I degrease before sand blasting and degrease twice more before using the solution.

I sold both of mine after I had a AD with one when I switched off the safety, it seems it had worn to the point of allowing the trigger to engage the sear while on safe then when taken off safe allowing the hammer to drop and it to fire. If I remember right only one side of the saftey allowed this to happen but still it was quite disconcerning and I didn't quite trust it after that even after fixing it. I'm back to my 642 now

I redid the stippling and added more divets.
Now it doesn't look like a cratered moon.

I'm making a branding iron of the CZ logo. If it turns out like I want, I'll burn it in the grips.

Dang! I carry mine with the hammer down. The double action means you don't need to keep it cocked....and the trigger isn't so stiff as to be a problem.

Interesting. I don't know if I like the grips pictured, but they sure look interesting. They almost look like they are made out of pumice.
