    Government Shut Down Again?

Just saw this. Doesn't seem to be getting as much play as when the blame could be placed at the feet of Republicans. The discussion is simple. If we are going to raise FEMA's budget, then somewhere else an equal amount of budget cut will be required. The Democrats are against it (and a few Republicans). I just wrote my Senators to tell them to knock it off. If they want to raise spending for FEMA, then need to reduce spending, now, somewhere else.

    Senate blocks emergency disaster money
By Sean Lengell and Stephen Dinan
    The Washington Times

    Friday, September 23, 2011

Calling for a weekend to “cool off,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid set up a Monday vote on replenishing the almost-empty federal disaster relief accounts as all sides race to beat a deadline to keep money money flowing to disaster-stricken states and to keep the federal government at large running.

“Cool off a little bit. Work this through. There’s a compromise here,” Mr. Reid said Friday, minutes after the Senate blocked back a bill drafted by House Republicans that would have replenished the disaster fund accounts through Nov. 18.

We've tried that and so have many other countries. What was the result? Come on, you know...

No, this is all about having some fiscal responsibility. If (and I think it is) FEMA is important to fund, then there's got to be some not so damned important to fund BS that needs to go away.

Simple as that. Our congress needs to get real - right now.

And this is just the very baseline needed - it will not solve any of our problems - just prevent making them even worse.

What we need is a congress with a bix fat-seeking axe that will be swung freely to cut-out any spending that isn't mandated in the Constitution (welfare cough cough, WIC cough cough, PBS cough cough, National Endowment for the Arts cough cough, National Education Administration cough cough, etc...... and it goes on and on and on....)

From what i've been hearing there allready was a deal worked out and the dems(pelosi and reed specifically) suddenly decided to crawfish and try to make a political stink about repubes wanting to see people suffer. Typical manufactured class warfare 101.

One big cut they were going make was government spending to help auto manufacturers make more fuel efficient cars(cough**corrupt GM corporatist subsidy**cough)..how about we zero that one out reguardless of the deal..just sayin.

    The whole thing is manufactured
History has a severe case of stuttering complicated by chronic hiccups.
It always repeats itself and it never fails that something will go horribly wrong along the way.

Direct democracy is a gang rape. Eight men vote to rape one woman and the woman has to accept it because the majority decided that it was ok. A constitutional republic on the other hand is eight men and one woman with a full mag. Think about it for a while until it hurts your head.

    Government Shut Down Again?

These days when I pontificate on these weighty matters I employ diversionary zen.

Presently I am able to project Senators John McCain and Orrin Hatch working the Vegas strip as drag queens. On the Dim side, I am able to visualize Senator Chuckie Schumer working as a member of the Village People while Rep Maxine Waters works as a street ho in downtown Chicago in winter.

Helps me get through the night.

    Raise taxes
    Cut benefits
    Cut spending
Ride it out till it collapses

I think we need to try 2 and 3 ASAP before considering 1 and getting to 4.

Not even close to the correct answer.

Obviously we should appoint a blue (or maybe pink and blue) panel to study the situation and recommend a solution that will be ignored.

    Wart

Of course we will continue with Option 4.

That reminds me of a joke.

A scottsman having had a bit too much to drink passes out sitting under a tree. A little girl comes along and seeing him laying there, the wind picks up and well, exposes the man. The little girl thinks this is very interesting and sits down and being curious, plays with the man's parts for a bit. Then, after getting bored with this, she decides to leave. But having found the whole thing rather interesting, she decides to leave the man a thank you and ties one of her blue hair ribbons on his manhood and then departs.

In the morning the scottsman wakes up and feeling something unfamiliar, lifts up his kilt and sees the ribbon and proclaims "I donnaknow where ya been laddy but you won first prize!"

25% cuts across the board, yeah it's going to hurt but nobody gets by unscathed.

Buzzzz! Wrong! The economy under Clinton was a gift from Regan. And Clinton had Newt Gingrich and his fellow repubs in the house to deal with so couldn't do much damage in his first term.

Why accross the board? That takes money away from truely needed and positive puruits.

What we need is cuts targeted at the drags on the economy - all welfare should be phazed out with "get to work" programs offered as this is done to help people get into a work mode and out of a gimmee my free shit mode.

Now, this would be something that Clinton actually did. Of course he was pushed into it by the Republican congress, but he does get credit as the President.

Why across the board? Because everyone sees their check as warranted and someone else's as waste. Plus "targeted costs" with either party at the moment tends to mean cuts for future generations and leaving everything as is now in place. Then you have the shear amount of cuts needed just to get us into balance which right now is 40% (and that doesn't start to pay down the debt). Truthfully 25% across the board isn't enough.

    GTL you are too funny.

Mriddick - ok, then lets compromise Cut 100% of welfare, WIC, etc. and then cut 20% accross the board.

I just can't stand that there so many worthless pieces of trash living the "high life" and I mean that quite literally on our dime. It's got to stop.

Here, I'm posting it again = watch this all the way through and then come back and argue with me....

"If they don't get their money they gonna kick yo butt" - really bitch? Send you homies on out and lets see about that.
