Kind of a cool setup. Price would have to be realistic for me to be interested though.

    Thumbs up

Ported barrels or not I bet it is a handful when you touch it off. Cool idea.

I like it. I would carry it. But you better hope you're close enough where two rounds are going to be all you need.

I didn't know a derringer was cutting edge.

Did anyone else notice it has the city, state, country, and planet of manufacture printed on it?

I'm going to have to buy this to go with the ones I have from Clathu 3 and Ilmati. That should round out my near galactic cluster set nicely.

Looks to me like someone shit a plastic derringer.
How do you compromise with someone when their idea of compromise is to give them what THEY want?

Heizer DoubleTap Gearing up for Shipping

    03.19.2012
    Story by: Max Slowik

Heizer Defense's recently-announced DoubleTap has been creating a lot of excitement in the world of derringers and concealed-carry. This twin-barreled pocket pistol has been turning heads left and right with its original looks and modern construction. Heizer is now prepping the DoubleTap for shipping to vendors at the end of this month and through April.

Originally announced in .45 ACP, the DoubleTap will be offered in two chamberings, adding a 9mm option. Both models will be made with ported or non-ported barrel assemblies, which house two 3-inch barrels. The frames will be made from two different materials, either aluminum or titanium. The aluminum model weighs 12 ounces and the titanium 14.

    What.... the... fuck?

This is notable because of the materials=light weight and the chambering = effective and it's true pocket carry size = very easy to take along.

If it's under $300, then I may bite.

There are times when a really light pocket sized 45 two-shooter would be just the thang.

while i like the concept and design cues, the marketing could use a little tweaking. nothing about a 45 derringer (ported or not) is cutting edge or precedent setting.

    Posted on October 11, 2012

Here is the official presser on the matter…

    To our valued customers:

As the inventor of the DoubleTap™ pistol and owner of the design and utility patents, along with other intellectual property including the DoubleTap™ name, I am issuing this press release to inform our loyal customers of the current status of the production of this new innovative pistol.

Since we introduced the DoubleTap™ Tactical Pocket Pistol in November of last year, we have been overwhelmed by the industry reception; the popularity confirmed by literally tens of thousands of orders placed by consumers to their dealers, through our distributor partners.

Reminds me of the FP-45 Liberator of WWII. GMC made these for .85 cents each.

Kohout Finds a New Manufacturer for DoubleTap

Posted on November 7, 2012 by Dan Zimmerman

Well that didn’t take long. It was just a few weeks ago that Ray Kohout announced that he’d split with Heizer Aerospace, leaving him without a maker for his unique over/under titanium pocket pistol. But Kohout’s just announced that he’s hooked up with Azimuth Technologies, LLC of Naples, Florida to make his new wonder gun. You’ll notice the design has been stripped of everything Heizer, including the repeating HDs that gave the grip it’s grippiness. We’re glad to see, though, that the gun still makes it very clear that it’s made on Earth. Press release after the jump . . .

Worst little pcket .45 was the Litchman Simmerling. Manually operated 5 shot, OH did it hurt to shoot it. Fired 5 rounds and that was enough. But it sat in a pocket nicely.

I do like the small Springfield's. EMP I think it's called. I did love the COlt OM, but never grabbed one since I carried a 70 series LWC for a lot of years if I didn't just carry a 70 series Gov't (tuned).
