Post Just goes to show you

Here I've been eyeballing and posting about a very nice Ruger Blackhawk in .41 mag that I ran across when all of a sudden I run across a chance to get this sweetheart:

S&W 5 screw, Pre-M27 from 1956. Haven't seen it in person but it looks worth at least checking out. Been wanting a Registered Magnum as well as a Model 27. This might be the best compromise I could come across. Not sure if this one is a 6" or 6.5" as they offered both in those days and there is some difference in value between the two but I'm not sure how much?

What do you guys think? Try for this Pre-27 or this Blackhawk from 1966?

I like the looks of the Ruger better, plus you get the box.

I'd get the SW, those old tapered barrels are just so cool to me.

I like the Smith, although both are classics. For me, a good Smith is like a good Buck.

I'd go with the smith, the grip on the rugers is to small for my ape paws (unless you get aftermarket rubber grips) Plus an N-frame is much higher on the cool scale.

    What was the quote?

If you can swing it, get both. If not, I'd go for the Smith. Either one is sweet, though.

I'd go for the S&W anytime.

I don't know, my Redhawk makes an N Frame kinda look like a girls gun... ;-)

Go with the Ruger, they are better guns all around.

I used to have a Super Blackhawk, I always wanted a Super Redhawk, but could never justify it. It sucks as a carry gun. For a bedside, if I have something that big and heavy I want a lot of bullets! Hunting and range toy is all the thing is good for... but I still would like to have one. But in this day and age a .500, hummm.

I'd say the Smith is definitely the more "Collectable" of the two.

I agree that the Super Redhawk is kinda a waste in .44 Magnum, as the regular Rehawk has a longer cylinder and can take larger bullets as a result and since BOTH weapons can take more pressure then the round can make, the extra weight is litterally dead weight in the Super Redhawk .44 Mag.

As far as the .500, well I have shot the X Frame in a .460 XVR and a .454 Casull Super Redhawk, and I can tell you that .44 Mag is about all I can handle in a handgun as far as recoil goes. Shooting those monsters actually gave me a bit of a flinch that took some time for me to shake.
