    Friday, October 7th, 2011 at 3:54 PM

Browning Proudly Announces the A-5 Semi-Auto Shotgun

Morgan, UT --(Ammoland.com)- Every hundred years or so, Browning does something so outrageous even their competitors can’t believe it.

For 2012, the A-5 recoil-operated shotgun will surely win the hearts of die-hard hunters as well as those who love and appreciate the traditional Browning lines.

That reminds me of a Browning shotgun a buddy of mine had in the 60's. That was the best trap gun I've ever handled. I really liked the high ridge on the receiver. It came up to eye level so naturally...a natural fit, so to speak.

That is a pretty gun. But for $1400, it had better shoot for me and it had better not miss.

I tried to push the envelope, but found that it was stationery.

Yes, I believe the A-5 was the first semi-automatic shotgun. Designed in 1898 and patened in 1900 by JMB. Production first started in 1902 at FN and was later licensed to Remington, Savage and Franchi. Production of the A-5 continued until 1999, The last year was only commemorative models.

Yep, I have a Remington Model 10, the Remington version of this design. They are not mild recoiling weapons, a gas operated shoty is much softer shooting than these recoil operated guns.

The humpback works great for eye/bead alignment ... either you are on it or you aren't.
They do kick more than the gas operated guns.
