I guess it's a collector item. That's the only explanaition I can come up with for that.

Certainly not getting much in the way of extra capacity... for the money.

I wouldn't pay that much for 20 of the damned things for the function.

Yes, they're cool and I'm thinking "why don't we see these being manufactured domestically and marketed?".

We have the AR quad mags.... so why not in 5.45 (or do they?)

Damn, that was a price! I can see spending good money for a rare piece, but that was out of my range. As an original experimental mag that is a musium piece, but over $1800 for one mag is pricey!

That is just plain crazy! $1,800+ for a mag!!!

I forget the name of the company right now, but the guys that produce a s-12 drum are working on a 60rd quad stack for the 5.45 round AK's. I sold them my WASR-2 as a test mule in the spring.

I'm pretty sure a collector bought it.
If I had, it would never see an AK mag well.
Secondly, I'd never buy it to begin with.

    So there!!

If I were in the business of molding and selling high cap magazines, it would be worth the money to have it. I would disassemble it, measure it fully, understand it's function then set about to reproduce it for the American market. Retail $75 each, I'd have my money back in quick order.

They are? I wouldn't know because I haven't used one. So they fucked up the design on them huh? Maybe Schutz has the answer here - manufacturer wanting to get the design.

Mike Davidson Arms is the company that makes the S-12 drums and is working on a 60rd 5.45 mag for the US market. You can find more info, and complaints, on it over on the Saiga-12 forums.
