Help dating a Browning A-5 shotgun?

My friend recently inherited an A-5, among other fire arms, but I haven't been able to put a date to it with the serial number, as it doesn't match the pattern provided by browning. The serial number is an M over the number 15XX. It is a 12ga, 2 3/4, without a barrel rib.

    Any help here?
