Better chance at repealing the 1986 ban.

My thoughts exactly. Needing to "Hope" (in vain) that the feds will actually HONOR the Constitution and BOR is truly sad.....

And the fact that we put up with this shit and voted it in is even sadder.

Amnesty could be a huge fund raiser for the Agency.,
    what are they waiting for?

A sudden proliferation might make them realize things
    they'd rather not realize.

One thing for sure ... they would have to add staff

6-8 months for a form 1 or form 4 is ridiculous

Before Obummer I had my first 2 form 1 stamps (SBR) back in 61 days!

I doubt that there will be another one. I think it is more likely the 86 ban would go away or the supreme court would rule against the 1934NFA. Any of those 3 would be nice. If they were smart that would repeal the 86 ban and just start making money hand over fist while at the same time continuing the reglations they so like.

maybe for a specific gun. ie, the saiga 12 is declared a dd (hypothetically), then have an "x" amt of time amnesty to register those already privately owned.

'89, '86, '68 and '34 bans all need to be done away with........

I would bet, the economy would turn around in 30 days flat

34 wasn't a ban, just a Draconian Tax to limit access. Most folks didn't earn $200 / year then, so very hard to pay the tax and be legal on an NFA weapon. Granted, even today I'd rather not have to pay the $200 but I wouldn't have too much problem getting up $200 on say an $800 buck M16 or AK. Done it on Suppressors, wouldn't stop me.

But suppressors are not a firearm.

AAC is the only suppressor company to try and lobby the Feds, that suppressors should only be a $5 tax like AOW's.

And in a way.....it was a ban. Nobody was gonna pay a $200 tax on something they got to bring home for free, or on something they ordered out of a Sears catalog.......

Amnesty? They might as well repeal the entire MG ban...

NEVER! And I'll tell you why... IF there was a general amnesty, it would have to be very specific like having an Amnesty for all the people who bought an Akins Accelertor for example, but didn't turn in or destroy the springs per BATF letter.

IF there was a general amnesty, how easy would it be for any of us to drill the "3rd magic hole" in an AK or AR receiver? Or perhaps if you have some machinist skills and the tools to crank out a few dozen DIAS's?

Nope, a general amnesty will NEVER happen.

Amnesty registrations are/have been tax free.

BTW the person who would have to declare the amnesty would now be the Attorney General, as head of the Justice Dept. I think Eric Holder doesn't have this high on his priority list... Then again neither did any of Bush's Attys General.

If I remember correctly, awhile back there was some kind of amnesty proposal being worked on to allow veterans to register bring-backs. Haven't heard anything about it for a year or so, so I guess it didn't go through.

Other than that or a Saiga 12 event, I don't think it will ever happen.

I think the idea that "machinguns are illegal and have no place in private hands" has become so ingrained in the public psyche that we will never see any of these bans lifted. If anything I'd expect the registry to get pulled at some point and all privately owned NFA items pulled.

I did notice an article in the America Rifleman promoting supressor ownership, perhaps there is hope.

The average gun owner doesn't even know about and wouldn't support NFA.
