What suppressor for a .338 Lapua

    Hi,

I'm not going to be putting my .338 Lapua together until late next year likely. I'm leaning towards a suppressor for it, but I know next to nothing about suppressors. Who makes quality .338 suppressors without spending more than the rifle? I'll be putting it on top of a Savage 110 FCP .338 Lapua.

Are suppressors interchangeable? I'm 99% sure the .338 Lapua will work out for me, but in the off chance I have to swap it out for a .338 Norma or .338 Edge, will the suppressor still work (I know legally I can).

    Thanks in advance!
    Chris

Suppressors don't care about chamberings, only bullet size. .338 what ever is still going to work if you have a .338 capable suppressor. Advanced Armament Corp http://www.advanced-armament.com/TiTAN-Ti_p_453.html yeah it isn't cheap but usually a dealer will have a lower than the MSRP listed on AAC's web site. YHM http://yhm.net/index.php?main_page=p...roducts_id=318 Now this one is more like it, less than $900, and it comes with their quick detach flash hider for mounting. If I was going to get one, I'd probably do the YHM, good value for the money, maybe not the quietest but is it worth dumping $700 more to get an extra 5 db of sound reduction?

Wouldn't this AAC be more of a fair comp:

Seems like Titanium is comparing a base model YHM to upgraded AAC.

Assuming that linked one is basically the same, is there much of a difference in the AAC vs the YHM, other than threaded vs QD? Basically, if the difference is only a couple hundred, does the AAC pull ahead?

Also look at Liberty suppressors. I am looking to get a Victory mag or a Freedom Mag for my 300 win mag. Expect the wait time to be close to a 6-8 months.

Hey man, if you don't mind me asking, how much did that Savage run you?

.338 Lapua is kind of something I've wanted to get into for a while. (Would probably have to take up reloading to feed it though...)

The only thing stopping me is price. (In addition to the rifle I'd of course need decent glass and the reloading supplies.)

I didn't put it together. I was going to next year. I was just checking on the suppressor now because I knew it was a long process. Buds has those guns for under $1324:

They also have a model that's one step down for under $1100:

Then, to give you an idea on other stuff. I was gonna put Vortex Razer HS ($2000), 100 Brass is $280, then your powder, primers, and bullets are $35/50 ish.

I can't believe the price on your link, it is so much lower than AAC's list on their web site. For that price maybe it's worth a little extra for 5 db of quieter. BTW the YHM suppressor can also have a quick mount to a flash hider like the AAC. A quick thread flash hider mount is the standard for the YHM .338 Lapua suppressor, it is available in a variety of thread types. Check the pull down menu at the bottom of the page. I don't know if anybody makes a .338 model that you can take apart to clean, but if there was, that one would be the one to get. Then again most civilians would be hard pressed to aford enough ammo to clog one up with fowling.
