Post RICK SANTORUM LOSES BOTH MICHIGAN AND ARIZONA

Detroit (CNN) -- A relieved Mitt Romney hailed his big night Tuesday after winning crucial primaries in Arizona and his childhood home of Michigan to revitalize his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination.

Romney needed to win both states, but especially Michigan -- where he grew up when his father was governor -- to assert his ability to overcome the conservative challenge from former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum.

In a speech to supporters after CNN projected his Michigan victory, Romney acknowledged the outcome was closer than he would have liked.

"A week ago, it was just a week ago, the pundits and the pollsters, they were ready to count us out," he said of surveys that showed Santorum leading in Michigan. " ... We didn't win by a lot, but we won by enough and that's all that counts.

Well, another one bites the dust.

Think Ron Paul will rise up as the next "anti-Romney", or is Mittens the pre-ordained chosen one after all??

(Newt finished dead last behind even Ron Paul with only 7% of the vote, so I don't see him coming back again at this point.)
"That tyranny has all the vices both of democracy and oligarchy is evident. As of oligarchy so of tyranny, the end is wealth; (for by wealth only can the tyrant maintain either his guard or his luxury). Both mistrust the people, and therefore deprive them of their arms." -- Aristotle, Book V, 350 B.C.E

It's pretty much over, organization wins over all. Ron Paul would like to win but only if he can do so by alienating 80% of the voters. Rick Santorum would like to win but only if he can protect traditional marriage over the economy. We get the guy who at least stuck to the goal being replace obama.

Romney 41% to Santorum 38% in Romney's birth state where he was supposed to win by double digits... 10% of the Republican primary voters ID'd themselves as Democrats...

Texas and California, IIRC, are both closed primaries and are like 20% of what is require to win the nomination. It's not over. If Romney had lost this, it would have been over, but for Romney. The deep south is not going to Romney.

If you look at the delegate count in Michigan though it is predicted at 50/50. Santorium won most of the counties if you look at the map. Romney won the larger urban centered counties.

Michigan awards the delagates based on district I believe.

I live in Michagan by the way.

"Ron Paul alienates 100 percent of the rino voters"

    fixed it for ya

Santorum voted for patriot act, wich is treason according to the constitution and his oath. Romney is a 100 percent caucasian 0bama. The Grinch is nwo all the way with carbon taxes, free trade, nafta/gatt, you name it if it's bad for America the rinos support it. Wake up, there is no difference between rinos and dems.

    Cool

Santorum ended up with 15 of the 30 possible electoral votes. It was a split in the end.

The Democratic plan to send their voters to the polls to vote for Santorum was worked heavily in Michigan. It's a reverse of operation chaos from four years ago.

Santorum actively courted Dems to vote R in this open primary.
