Smile Well I just ordered my first 40S&W...

But I did it on the cheap

I own a G20SF 10mm and so with a conversion barrel, I can also shoot 40S&W in it. Kind of like 38 Special/357 Mag.

I ordered a Lone Wolf standard length for this - stainless barrel with standard rifling.

I figured that 40 is so prevailent now and often in stock when other calibers aren't - especially 10mm - which is also expensive.

It's also less expensive to handload and the brass is cheaper if I have to buy it. But I can get loaded FMJ Winchester for $32/box of 100, which is very inexpensive - 165 grains at 1060 fps. Should shoot to the sights close enough. That's why I chose the 165 vs the 180's.

Congrats! I recently picked up a police trade in G22 from CDNN and bought the lone wolf 9mm conversion. I have only shot 9mm through it so far and it has performed flawlessly even when using the 40 mags. That Freedom Munitions has similar reloads to what you describe for $10.49 / box of 50. Thanks to our ammo poster Weldon for that lead!

You should get a .357 Sig barrel too

I've thought of that but the 10mm really outperforms it so....

I thought about the Sig as well. I might do that as soon as I can save up some more fun money. I opted for the 9mm because A) it is cheap to shoot and B) I had just bought a sub 2k in 9mm Glock.

I was just thinking of that because it would give you a "high performance" alternative for the pistol should you want that.

Geez must be the year for 40sw's...had a sub 2K in 40 with several high cap glock mags. It looked lonely in the safe so I picked up a Sig, a Berreta PX compact, and a SW stainless in 2012 to keep it company. Nice round but I still like my 45's.

It must be - I just bought a used XD40, so now I've got a dedicated 40 and the conversion barrel for the G20. 40 S&W is about the only consistently available pistol round these days.
