    De-Linking Assistance Needed

Surplus .308 is becoming hard to find, so I recently purchased some Radway Green that is linked with M13 links for the M60 Machine Gun. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on an easy way to de-link them for use in a bolt gun. Any assistance appreciated. Thanks much!

Just grab the belt and twist sections in the opposite directions and break the belt down to 4 or 5 rounds per section. Then have a seat and press the nose of each round against a wood block and they snap out fairly easy. If you don't have a de linker tool its going to make you tired but its as fast by hand as it is with the tool so prepare to turn on the radio and let your mind drift to far away places while you do the tedious work. No shortcut that I know of.

The video basically duplicates what Old Grump stated.

I grab the belt bullets faceing down, and press each one onto the top corner of an ammo can removing them mostly from the link, I do several before stopping to removing them fully by hand. Just pull them out.

Everyone knows the real answer is to get something belt fed!

That's the best method. Easiest and most fun.

i get a set of pliers with a curved jaw section at the front, so that i can get into the recess better, adn pull each one out of the link backward.

I have a question and it may sound dumb, but some foreign full-auto rounds are loaded a little hotter than standard semi-auto rounds. Does this hold true for American ammo? Would these .308's be a little hotter than "standard" .308's?

    (Ok, two questions. Sorry.)

Thank you all very much! That's exactly what was needed. This sure is a wonderful group, with a wealth of information!

Yes, Radway Green is British ammo, which I believe is made to NATO specifications.

One more quick question......Do you guys wipe off the thin film of lubricant that is on the shells, or just leave it be?

    Thanks again, Gents!

It isn't hotter and I leave the lube alone. I only make sure there is no debris on the cases.

Thanks much! There's a goodly amount of lube on them and I was worried the amount of lube could clog something up after a few rounds.
