Drilling 3mm gas block pin holes and barrel trunnion pin hole?

Do you simply press on the pieces to the correct location then drill, using the trunnion, base etc as drill guides?

I have obtained some solid carbide bits for the job, but still am a little leery, though see no alternative?

    Thanks,

    Forest

Yes, position pieces first, drill 2nd. With any bit, but especially Carbide be very careful of flexing the bit as it will break easily. I would also suggest drilling from both sides half way to minimize the chance of wandering off track.
