What exactly does it mean to "Held in Contempt of Congress". I know if you hare held in "Contempt of Court" you can be put in jail. What are the ramifications, other than Congress saying they did this?

I am glad to see that this thing hasn't been swept under the rug yet.
Doobie Doobie Doo..
Thats precisely where Holder belongs.
Watch Obama pardon any one of his chronies who winds up convicted of criminal malfeasance.
While I'm glad that these traitors may be held accountable, I doubt they will ever receive the justice they deserve.
obama can do what he pleases, regardless this needs brought to light.
Would it be too much to hope for what the real charges should be?
High Treason, illegal trafficing in arms, and accessory to murder?
It really doesn't matter. Even if Holder is impeached, tarred and feathered, some other authoritarian prick will be along to replace him.
We really need a President who's willing to put a true Constitutionalist in position of Attorney General. Someone who won't vigorously prosecute the war on drugs and guns, and stop Federal overreach.
Sadly, I don't see anyone in either the Republican or Democratic Party offering anything substantially better. Except maybe Ron Paul.
"That tyranny has all the vices both of democracy and oligarchy is evident. As of oligarchy so of tyranny, the end is wealth; (for by wealth only can the tyrant maintain either his guard or his luxury). Both mistrust the people, and therefore deprive them of their arms." -- Aristotle, Book V, 350 B.C.E

Steve
After today, it's all historical.
Why not murder and treason charges? From the atf puke who transfered the guns to holder.
mark my words, ain't nothing going to come from this.
After I posted my question I did some looking and it turns out that the President cannot pardon someone who has been found in Contempt of Congress. I am not good with how the law splits hairs, but Contempt of Congress is not a violation of a law, per se, so there is nothing to be pardoned from. You can go to jail for up to a year and you can be fined a small amount of money, but there is not pardoning. And get this, it only takes one chamber for a contempt charge to be levied and acted on, not both. This means that if Attny General Holder is brought up on contempt charges by the House, the Senate cannot then find him not guilty or not take action, it is totally maintained in the House. The same would hold true if he were stonewalling a Senate panel or subcommittee.
The last couple of times this was threatened was during President Clinton's time in office, related, it looks like, to Whitewater. The day before the contempt hearings were supposed to start the papers were found, if I remember right, in the official residence by Secretary Clinton. Once the documents were turned over the proceedings were stopped.
