    I bought a monster gun!

Alright, not the perfect one, but the price was right.

Found it by calling around at local shops. Asking price was, as in the auction... $485. Not too bad, but high enough. I called em back and asked what the best they could do was if I brought cash.

Walked out the door for $390. Too bad it wasn't a full length mag tube and laminated stock, but the price was right.

So, anyone have some favorite loads for .450 marlin? I see a set of reloading dies in my (very near) future.

Nice catch! You can use 45-70 data for most loads. Just don't use the max loads of the high pressure type as the 450 is a wee bit smaller in case capacity due to the thicker head - I believe. Compare published load data for both and you'll see what I mean.

    Nice score.

Now, go find a monster and see how it works.

Looks like a big enough boom to handle most non-mythological beasts. Probably do a good number on CHUDs and Wolfmen too!

With the short mag tube, how many does it hold?

I've got the 45/70 version . . does yours have a ported barrel? the only thing I didn't like was the factory sights so upgraded to a set of Ashley ghost rings that tightened up groups a lot

Found this from Guns and Ammo

I would think the 400 gr FP bullet loaded with the Accurate 2015 would knock the snot out of anything your were irritated with. Might clear your sinuses too.

Hope you are still pumping iron and working out, the bulk helps more when it's solid bulk. After I hurt my back I went from power lifter to dough boy and I sure can tell the difference with some of my bigger guns.
