    AR-15 free float handguard removal?

I have an AR-15 with a short free float hand guard on it (over a bull barrel.) I'm thinking of putting on a low profile gas block, and a longer tube, (the MI unit looks nice!) Problem is I'm not sure how to get the old tube off? IIRC, most of them are threaded on, but this one is on... quite securely, and I don't want to break anything. Any advice?

Need to know what kind it is. Some of them (cannot remember who) require a special wrench that is VERY expensive.

I don't know the brand of the handguard, but it came on a Doublestar upper.

If that's it in the link the tube screws to a large round barrel nut. Usually a strap wrench is used to break the tube free then the 3 pronged spanner wrench is used to break the barrel nut free.

This one that I redid has such a tube. If you blow up the image you can see a seam about 2 inches forward of the rear of the tube. That is where the tube body screws to the barrel nut. I used a strap wrench to break it free, then the spanner wrench for the nut removal.

That appears to be the same handgard as this one: http://jtdistributing.net/store/product927.
They are calling it a National Match Handguard. It appears to be an inhouse product but I do not see any pdf of how to install it. I suspect Schuetz is correct about it screwing onto a specially threaded barrel nut. I'd use their "contact us" link and ask for a pdf of install in if there is a special spanner wrench needed to remove the barrel nut. (special spanners can sometimes be VERY expensive)

No PDF but the product description says "Two Piece" meaning tube and barrel nut.
