Dalton Gang Colt pistol featured in Sept. 7-9 vintage firearms auction


ROCK ISLAND, ILL. – The world renowned Gateway Collection of important Colts, Winchesters, Smith & Wesson’s and other 19th and 20th Century arms is likely to produce several top lot honors in Rock Island Auction Company’s Sept. 7-9 firearms auction.

Amassed over 50 years, this collection was constructed by an exceptionally astute business man who had an eye and a passion for rare, high conditioned and historically significant firearms. The collection boasts rare and historic arms including: a historic factory-engraved black powder Colt Single Action Army revolver from outlaw Bob Dalton, taken from his dead body after the famous Dalton Gang’s Raid on Coffeyville, Kan., on Oct. 5, 1892.
