    Suomi 9mm Carbine (semi-auto)

I'm toying with the idea of, maybe, getting one of these. Does anyone have any experience with these or know anything about them, pro or con? How's the reliability, accuracy, ruggedness? I don't want to sink that kind of money into something that isn't of decent quality or has lousy reliability.

They are beyond ugly and into the area of sort-of-kind-of-almost cool looking.

The orginal full auto Suomi (swa-oh-me) weapons were very reliable, rugged and accurate. These semiauto reconstructions, don't know.

Thanks always wondered how that was pronouced.

I haven't ever shoot one of these. It is one of those that years ago I would have jumped on it as I wanted one. About a year ago (after I had more or less lost huge interest in getting one) a local gun store had one. So of course I asked to see it, curosity and all, I still wouldn't mind getting on just no huge interest any more. I decided after handaling it that it was heavy. Which I guess isn't real surprising, it is wood and steel. The thompson weighs a lot for example. Keep in mind this was empty, I don't know what it would weigh with a loaded drum. The cocking handle was in a wierd place. The orginals had a great reputation. To me it seemed heavy and acward to use for a 9mm. How ever I used to see the mags and drums cheap. I see the semi-auto advertised fairly cheap, the one in the store was I think 700 something or other. Given the price I decided to pass. If you are into the guns from the time period I think it would be great to add to your collection.

Yep at one time the 72 round drums were about $20 bucks and the 32 round stick mags were about $7 each. The weight was one property that made the originals accurate manageable in full auto. The semi and drums would be quite the Zombie Apocalypse weapon, pop those heads with little reloading.
