    .30 cal AR options????

I want to stick with .30 cal for the AR I'm making since I already have one in .223 and have a near limitless supply of 308 bullets.

Whats the options out there for chamberings that utilize 308 bullets and retain use of the standard lower/magazine???

I'm not interested in 762x39 , even though I cast .311 bullets I have no desire to go down that route.

I don't know a thing about reloading, but .300 BLK looks like its up my alley, being an AK guy at heart.

I talked to a guy today with a custom heavy barrel DPMS LR-308, he was super impressed with it, but you know how that can go. Talked to another fellow with a .300 BLK and a suppressor, and once again he was very impressed with his own rifle.

.300 BLK is the only .30 cal round I know of that requires only a change of barrels for the AR.

300 blackout and .30 Whisper but the Blackout seems to be taking off far better than the Whisper ever did. http://300aacblackout.com/ It, the 300 Blackout does seem to be the one to go with if you want .30 cal. and standard magazines.

300 BLK all the way. Just a barrel swap and all else is the same.

Depending on what projectiles you have you may need to modify a magazine or two. Some people have needed to file down the internal rib on P Mags.

If you run sub-sonics ONLY - many people are doing fine with 9mm cans. If you want to run super-sonics you'll need to step it up. Most are running a 308 can for that. So far I think the only company making a specific 300 BLK can (subs and supers) is AAC. (Liberty MAY be making one now but I'm not sure) Also, if you plan on running cast bullets you'll need a can that can be taken apart for cleaning.

A lot of people are using pistol cans with subsonic ammo. I just put my .45 Osprey on mine, haven't fired it yet.

300BLK is Sami speced with a 16 inch barrel. It does very well in an SBR though.

    SBR it!

Then when its suppressed its still a reasonable length.

If you go SBR go 10 inch or shorter. This caliber lends itself very well to SBR. Many people are even going 8 inches. If you go SBR, go short.

I just might jump on this.

Have enough 5.56 brass I can swim in it .
From reading it doesnt have the resizing issues 7mm TCU has.

Gonna do some Barrel shopping and order me a set of dies tomorrow.

now to ponder would it run better suppressed using subsonics using the DI or piston setup????

If your goal for a piston set up is to run a cleaner gun don't bother. With a silencer the DI AND the piston system get equally dirty.

On edit: Palmetto State Armory has some great barrels at a great price.

only goal is which mode would make it run more consistently?

I don't think it's going to matter one way or the other.

For the money you may want to look at Palmetto State Armory, great barrels at a great price.
