    STG44 22lr I got one

Finally scratched enough together to get a new toy. It's been a few years and I've been wanting one of these.
Took forever it seems for them to get them out but they started showing up. Most places out of stock so I went with the auctions.
The feeding frenzy seems to have stopped the prices where getting ridiculous. I was the only bid on this one I think because of the set shipping price but doing the math I still came in under what some were going for. $539.00 which is under suggested retail.
I know "for a .22?" and who needs the crate right could have sold them for less without that. But that's how they are selling them for now and I'm pretty happy with it.
Definitely not junk very well built, the mag appears to be plastic but that's the only piece and it's very strong. Despite the packaging, it was screwed into the case along with foam spray the pistol grip had a little nick but was easily covered with some stain I had on hand. Nothing I probably wouldn't have done to it eventually anyway.
Shoots great and after finding the right elevation and despite these old eyes I was pretty comfortable with the iron sights.
    Here's some pics

    Here's some of the particulars

There appears to be a place for, I'm guessing, a cleaning kit but whatever I couldn't get it open and I haven't found anything that shows how, may just be for looks. Needs a closer look

Could have included a sling but they did throw in a catalog so that along with some additional mags are on my list.
All in all I'm pretty happy with it

    Thumbs up

    Nice score Otto.

I just saw one of those the other week at MegaSports by me. At first I thought it was a full-scale replica of the STG44 but then saw the .22 cal on the description tag. That $539 price is about what they were asking, too.

I wonder if you can mount a scope on that bad boy?

Looks pretty neat. I didn't even know they were making those. How does it fit in the creat? It looks to long to fit.

I lifted this from another auction.

I knew I should have taken a shot before I took it out

25 rds they also have 10 rounders available
I had some Remington high velocity on hand.
The manual mentions using "high quality utility" and "high velocity" rounds. That's what they designed around

    Looks like a nice gun!

Too bad the only way to have one of these is as a .22

DIES and TOOLING.. We'd be paying $1200+ for a 762x39 or 8mm kurz semi if it was made here to compensate for the the cost of the set up.

Local place has one for sale ... HMMMMMMMMM..

I remember several years ago finding one on Gunbroker. Fully transferable for $10,000.00 which really didn't seem outrages at the time but it was a reweld. Very nice one but still a reweld.

    Thanks man.

I don't remember ever seeing a picture of an original with a scope. Not to say they didn't but I don't think they had them.
If they did and they made one for these I'd consider it but I'm keeping this as is.
I think I can get used to the sights from the little I did I was kind of happy with the groups.

I think it's going to be a lot of fun......... now to get me some of those "White Lightning" targets....boom!

Eventually alright but I think you can get a pretty good idea from the shot I took in the manual. I'm thinking that's pretty much an HK design if I'm remembering right.

The mags are shown in the catalog but it directs you to their site and I haven't been there yet for prices.
    I'm getting there

Wonderful, now I know what to buy my grandson for his graduation present (high school). I once owned a real one but gave it to Juan Erquiaga down in CA. Made ammo for it by necking 7.62X51 blank brass down and then reaming out the neck after forming...worked great...a hoot to shoot even at about .50 per round back in 1963. This will do him just fine...nice pictures BTW.

Interordnace made a batch a few years ago of semi 7.92 kurz replicas, price was $5,000. but I'm sure it's a lot more than that now.

    Nice grandpa.
I did get to handle one once but didn't fire it. Weighed a ton as I recall. Had some re-enactors around here and I gave one a lift to the staging area. He had a lot of nice toys real ones. They even had a tank which wound up in Ca. as well
This 22 comes in at around 9 lbs loaded per the specs. I used the bathroom scale with no mag and it was about 8 lbs.

I'll have to take your word on that. You seem pretty up on your guns
Not sure if this is what you were after but I got some inside shots for you

That I'd add that the muzzle cover is non-functional, all one piece with the front sight. The end of the barrel starts about an inch inside of it

Did some looking around. ATI is asking 39.99 found a place that knocks two bucks off and another that adds 5 bucks.
All out of stock so I guess I'll have time to save up for them.
