They don't have enough hats or bats to corral 300 million people. (The logistics are just mind boggling...)

They will only be able to control specific areas at best. The government will eventually be reduced to hiding in heavilly armed enclaves between lawless areas. (Much like they do in most of the world these days...)

That is if they keep being morons and taking cues from the 3rd reich. One big difference between 1930's Germany and USA today is that Germany did not have the same culture.

We are heavily armed (legally and illegaly) heavily individualistic and dowright insane when cornered or even inconvenienced. There's also just a f*** ton more terain to cover in this part of the world. The best a regime could hope for is to maintain their own neigborhoods while the wolrd around them turns into Mad Max.
