    Question Remington model 541 magazines?

Does anyone have a source for the detachable magazines for the Remington 541? Also wondering if mags for any other model would work? If it makes a difference, the rifle in question is a 541T and was purchased around 1973-74. TIA

Looks like the 541 and 581 (I have a 581) take the same magazine. I picked up a couple at a gun show about 6 months ago. I have also seen them in Cabela's and Outdoor Warehouse. I don't think they should be too hard to find.

I tried to push the envelope, but found that it was stationery.

Have you heard about the new corduroy pillows? They're making head lines!

Thanks. Did you find any mags that held more than five rounds? My dad has the rifle and was wanting more than the one mag. After all these years it has kept working fine but he finally decided he wanted a spare or two and and if he could get a 10rd so much the better.

Haven't seen any 5 round mags in a while, only 10 rounders. The 2 new ones I got are both 10 rounders.

I have not had any problems with mine. I haven't put a lot of ammo through them yet, but they seem to work alright. The only thing I am having to get used to is seating the mags. Because they are longer you have to hold them just a little differently when you install them in the rifle.

Thank you. Boy the prices on these are all over the place, from around $15 to almost $35 each. I guess they are all factory mags and all seem to be plastic which, IIRC is what the original mag was made from. Most of the reviews state they either won't feed properly, the mags actually seperate at the seams or they won't keep the cartridges in the mag (they pop out of the top). Probably a good idea to check the return policy from each vendor and see who's got the best one in case they really are a bad design.

I have been using the same 5 round magazine since I was 8, so for a little more than 40 years. The only issue I had was when I was about 15 and we lived in the country. I was shooting that rifle every day, and not cleaning it. I started having trouble getting the rounds to eject. Not really a problem with the rifle or the magazine, just the operator. He learned his lesson.

Hummm... handy with sheet metal? Maybe it's worth the effort to build one of your own.

did a little looking, with a little alteration almost any rem. 500 series .22 mags would work
Same boat though, they're all $30-40

I can look locally when Im off this week, one shop has abox with around 400-600 loose .22 mags in it.
