Sold a M1 carbine . . . kinda sad.

I went to a gunshow today and I sold the first carbine I ever bought. It was a mixmaster late model Winchester, but it did have it's original Winchester barrel. I paid $125.00 for it in about 1988. It was my first project carbine and I learned a lot gathering correct Winchester USGI parts to replace the mixed parts that came on it. At one point I bought a very nice correct Winchester stock to replace the IBM stock that it came in, but I sold the IBM stock for the same price I paid for the Winchester stock.

Anyway, with it being a sellers market these days I thought I'd test the waters. I decided I'd start at $900.00 asking and see where that went. I sold it for $900.00 less than 10 minutes after I got in the door.

I've bought and sold and traded M1 carbines for over 25 years, but this one the first one I was actually nastalgic about parting with. But, hey, you can't take 'em with you.

First gun I bought was a MAK-90. Sold it december for much more then I paid for it, and the guy still got a good deal considering the buying frenzy. I like AK's, but I'm more comfortable and confident shooting AR's.

I bought my 1943 Inland GI Carbine back in '72 when I was a senior in HS. Paid $70 out the door for it and it was/is a beauty.

By coincidence, I just had it out at the range yesterday. The old war-horse still throws lead downrange as reliably & accurately as when I first shot it so many years ago. I've never had to replace a single part on it either, except for the extractor & ejector springs which I replaced just the other year. My Inland is the last rifle in my collection I'll ever part with.

I sold my first M1 carbine for $60.00............that was in 1969 so don't gasp with grief.....bought an Inland from the CMP a few years ago and I think it was $525.00....crazy prices...Have thinned out my Garand collection and got $900.00 for the cheapest one.....went to a farm auction and an M1 carbine went for $1250.00...as stated crazy prices
