    mak90 underfolder conversion ?

I've been looking for a underfolder and was wondering if I take a thumbhole stocked mak90 that has the rear receiver dimples for a underfolder assembly provision, do I need to get a rear trunnion or are they already included in the receiver?
I've seen several mak90's that has the familiar "cross" at the rear, but I don't know if they have a rear trunnion that has the hole for the underfolder option. Thanks!

Next would be tracking down a u.f.'g assembly w/o going into hock!

I had a NHM that I converted. I just dremmeled of the rivet and put the stock on. If it has the cross then it should be folder ready.

The trunnion is an underfold trunnion. The underfold stock and hardware were just removed and a cover riveted in place to cover the holes. If you can find a complete folder and mechanism you can convert it back to a folder and get rid of the bumhole stock.

The Chinese underfolders had no rear trunion, they just had a cover plate with the recoil spring slot over the rear of the receiver. As said by the others, just cut the rivet that holds the plates over the evil underfolder mounting holes, cut the stock tang off the rear plate, install the underfolder and enjoy your rifle with the knowledge that you just made George Bush the First a little more uncomfortable.

As long as you are just looking to change it from the Bush-hole stock to standard 56S type stockset you are ok. Just hope you aren't talking about installing an underfolder because the rifle you show has a standard fixed stock receiver.

Regardless, it looks like a really nice rifle!

Rivet placement is a dead give-away.

This solves another mystery for me. I always wondered why the rear of my receiver looked different on my mak. I haven't been around to many in person just pictures. Now I see mine was made for an underfolder, which it has, but it is bolted in place. The mech is missing. The tang, for the thumb hole, is also not there anymore. The plate on the back is open on the bottom which I presume was for the wood stock to fit in.

Good thing 'nut pointed out the rivet placement. Come to find out he had several pics of different Chinese ak's he was calling all of em MAK90's cuz he thought they all looked the same! Long story short its actually a nhm-90, broken off tang on top of the original bush-hole stock, some one tried to weld in a rear receiver plate, welded a muzzle brake on and all kinds of other shit. Thanks again for pointing out the obvious that I apparently overlooked in my rush to see the other features. Back to the search for my elusive norinco underfolder!

There were quite a few NHM-90s that had underfolder receivers, but the way you describe the one you found sounds like you are doing the right thing by avoiding it.

Fez, can you show a photo of the back end of the rifle you have? I always like to see what people do to their AK variants, both good and bad. Thanks!

Just scored a NOS,never been installed, Chinese underfolder assembly on GB. Should make a fine build when I finally find a uf stamped receiver.
