    My PSL Range report

Back home on vacation and one of the first things I did was to try out the PSL the first attempt was to try it at 50 yards to figure out where the scope is pointing

    50 yards

some of the shots got away from me but overall real good I think

    100 yards

I had to retune the scope and started going the wrong way as you can see, I had to let the gun cool off for a little bit and the last 3 shots are in the center so I'm very happy how it turned out,
I used 147grn surplus ammo, I don't know if that was the bulgy or russian ammo.
I'll be heading out tomorrow and tweak it a little more and try the hornady and wolf gold ammo.

Good last group. I bet your next range trip, all your shots will be like that.

Those scopes aren't the easiest to zero in. Still looks like you had a good time.

The last 3 shots are pretty damn good for the type weapon that it is especially with surplus ammo.

Looking good. The head stamp on the ammo tells the source. Russian LB is mostly 188. Be careful with those heavier rounds, if there's any evidence the carrier is smacking the rear trunion, you'd better lay off the heavy stuff.

Thanks for the tip, I didn't know that. I haven't shoot mine for years. Next time I take it out I will check for that.

i am and always will be of the thought, i do not care about moa groups. if you hit a 12x12 target as many times as you did, game over.

if you want to spend your life trying to put 30 rnds in the size of a quarter, fine. i will spend mine putting 1 in center mass.

I've been having a heck of a time dialing in my PSO-1M2 scope on my Drag. Does yours stay the same after you tighten the set screws on the scope?

Yes I did have fun out on the range aknut, I wish my girl got to go with me, I'd let her shoot it, it would be pretty hot seeing a hot blonde shooting that thing

The scope I use is a brand new 8x42 POSP scope from Kalinka Optics, I'll be finding out tomorrow if the set screws stayed in place. Kalinka Optics have downloadable pdfs if you look at their scopes, it sure helped me set mine up since its my first scope for a rifle.

Wow what a day today, I tried out the hornady and wold gold ammo, it really chews on the brass cases, it was gusty out this time and the way the range is set up, the wind tends to swirl around in the area where we shoot, I also had one of the primers just burst backwards cause the chamber got real smoky, also it caused my firing pin to get stuck and was unmovable even with pliers, managed to get it out and clean it really well and it works like a champ, also my scope mount wasn't as tight as I thought it was and loosened up, I adjusted the tension one more click and it seems real solid now. So take 2 for my next psl range report.

Back in 1999 or there abouts I toted a NIB romak3 psl to the local range with some good friends. They were so sure this new import romak was no sniper rifle and only a dressed up ak they bet $100 i wouldn't hit paper at 100 yards. I installed the PSO scope for the very first time as tight as I humanly possible and flipped the illuminated reticle ON. With copperwashed milsurp ammo loaded and safe we set up a target at 100 yeards, First shot standing was a 10 about 1/4 inch high and left. The second shot bareley perfed the first hole. Needless to say I could hardly believe the result and my friends wanted to go home. I sold that very early psl for $900 cash and $200 credit towards a parkerizing work to a local gun shop within that same year which was a good deal for me at the time. Looking back I'de like to still have that rifle. The PSO scopes can get your head spun around if you don't have clear directions to zero them but once they are dialed in with the mount tight and right you should be good to go. Enjoy your shooting.

my most recent range time, my Norinco 56s 100 yds is on the left psl is on the right. My scope kept zero so I'm happy this was Russian Surplus ammo, Norinco was using wolf performance.

    My PSL Range report

Thanks Aaron, I think I would have done better if I took my time on most of those shots, maybe adjust the rsa trigger too, feels like its got a hair trigger, will try again next time I'm back home on vacation
Oh and by the way, I didn't see too much difference with the wolf gold and hornady brass cased ammo, compared with the surplus other than my psl hated them from time to time, had one fail to eject but wasn't hard to remove, another ones primers got blown back and caused my firing to get stuck, had to use clp to get it unstuck.

Only time I had the issues was the brass cases, zero problems with the steel.
