need idea: Punch for making over powder cards and wads for 62 cal trade gun

I am thinking that an arch punch used in leather work would do the job. But i am unsure what size i would need for a proper fit. If the bore is .62 cal what size punch would i need to produce a proper fitting wad. Also it seems that te punch sizes might be measuring the hole made not the wad produced.

The musket is smooth bore so i would want to fill it right up

    Thanks

https://www.dixiegunworks.com/produc...q0l2d0sill1pa5 Follow the link. This 5/8ths inch should do the job. Your only other option would be 11/16 but that's more like 69 cal. Possibly McMaster Carr or another industrial supply company might have a size between these two. But I would start at the 5/8ths punch. Have you miked the bore, it may not really be .62" it might be in the .615 range as such the 5/8ths puch would be perfect.
