I think that just because the RPM barrel is 20 inches long the seller thinks it is "heavy" when in fact it is just a longer version of the standard 16 inch barrel.

I have one... It is a 20", not a 21" RPK barrel and is not nearly as heavy. Some/most did have bipod cuts, although many came w/o the bipod.
We found out what "dealing" with progressive lefties is all about. Our side gives up something, they give up nothing and the progressives come back in a month or a year and want us to give up more... rinse and repeat...

Yea, basically a stretched 16"... I had to modify a RPK retainer to fit the barrel in my project rifle... I'm putting Russian RPK stocks on a RPM rifle...

I have a 20 inch maadi. The barrel is skinny compared to this picture.

Mine does have a bipod cut section of the barrel with a thin tube in place for the bipod, but unfortunately mine came without the bipod.

I'd bet you a standard AKM gas block and front sight fit it...

Measured my RPM barrel just behind the bayo relief cut and it is .594". Measured both an SAR-1 and Maadi ARM and both are about the same diameter. Measured a Norinco NHM-91 (long barrel) and it was approx .692".

So it would seem then that the ones with out the bipod have the thinner barrel than the ones that have the bipod?

Seems to be. This one is a RML Model. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=352152064

This one is a RPM Model. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=348163273

There is a difference in the diameter of the barrels.
