Japanese Troops Storm California Beach as Marine Power Eyed

A thousand Japanese troops have been learning how to recapture territory in the face of enemy fire. While the shoreline may be California, the skills they are building could one day be used closer to home.

The two-week “Dawn Blitz” joint drills in June saw a Japanese Self-Defense Force ship launching a hovercraft designed to carry troops and heavy weaponry that roared onto the beach, watched by officers from the U.S. and Japan. Elite rangers rehearsed a night-time beach infiltration.

Finally! I knew they'd do it eventually.

Those things were always a blast when i was in the marines in the 70s.

I was a combat engineer assigned to a marine air base squadron. Our job was to go down to pendleton and pre-stage all of the equipment to set up an LZ for the helicopters. We'd go down from LTA Santa Ana on a friday and get everything ready for the exercise on monday. We'd be done by early saturday and got to spend the rest of the weekend playing on the beach.
Couple of the guys had girlfriends who liked to pull trains, so it was free STDs and all the C-rats you could stomach....WOO HOO.

Put on quite a show for all the civilians who would line up along I-5.

I could have lived another day NOT visualizing you banging some slut with 20 other guys.... seriously.....

I remember those war games. Camp Pendleton is the BEST. All those jarheads landing with their amphibious vehicles. You can CLEARLY see the beaches from the freeway! What a show! Fond memories.
