This Article Posts a Great Question

Why are our military members prevented from carrying firearms on base?

If We Had the Ammunition, We Could’ve Cleared that Building,’ Son at Navy Yard Told Dad

Today, we celebrated Constitution Day, and Dan Joseph took to the streets to ask people how they felt about our founding document. He also asked people if there was anything they would change. In the wake of the horrific shooting at the Washington Navy Yard, one individual made an interesting point about yesterday's mass shooting at the Navy Yard in the nation's capital:

"I know a lot of people are concerned about guns these days, but you know if everybody had arms, then there wouldn't be these problems.

I often thought that aswell. in most foreign countries that I have been in the troops were armed and you better know they had ammo in their mags. using Korea as an example, if you messed up and tried to go thru the front gates of one of their compounds you would be confronted by very motivated alert armed soldiers. The US forces on the other hand wouldn't even have a magazine in their rifle and chances are they were jiving with each other or yacking on a cell phone. Anyone looking from outside the gates could tell that the US soldiers were distracted and not serious about their job.

Way back when... Mid 60's I did a bit of prisoner escort at Ft. Dix.

At that time I was issued a 1911A1 and 3 rounds of ammunition.

The pistol went in your holster, and the loaded magazine went into a pocket, and Lord help you if you were found with the weapon loaded at any time!

It was a rather clumsy club. I'd have been more dangerous with one of their weakened batons.

The baton was weakened so they supposedly would break before delivering enough force to be fatal.

I must admit that most of the prisoners I escorted were AWOLs.

On my first submarine back in the early '80s we pulled into the Italian Navy Base in LaSpizia, Italy. I was going out on liberty and was going through the front gate at the same time as a car was coming in. At this base we had to show our ID cards going out and coming back in. The guard was armed with some sort of submachine gun. I showed the guard my ID and he waved me and a friend out. The car must have thought he was waving him in because I saw him slow down and then start to speed up. Next I heard the guard yelling halt and lift his weapon up to fire. I ducked and the car came to a screeching halt. Once the car was stopped the guard went over and started yelling at him. It is much different overseas.

I know what you mean. We had a group of guys fly into a Korean base for a briefing and one of the guys missed the aircraft out. You would have thought the he was a spy the way the Koreans handled it. They did not fuck around. Even at some insignificant outpost you would have thought you were looking a concrete statue when you saw the ROK guards over there. You couldn't even get close enough to ask them a question and they would be on you like white on rice. I guess maybe because they would get their ass beat for fucking up and the US soldiers would get a letter of reprimand or something.

i can remember when 9/11 happened, the US soldiers had Hummers at the gates with 50 cals on them. Not a belt of ammo in sight.

    Give that man a cigar!

Their PC anti-gun liberal pacificism trumps good common sense and trained military personnel are left defenseless.

It has truly and sadly become a case of the lunatics being in charge of the asylum.
