I truly feel sorry for the police, who in their hearts and brains know that confiscation is wrong, but are forced into making a decision which could be really bad both ways. Either obey the order and risk injury or death in a fight with someone not willing to give up their constitutional rights, or face charges of disobeying a direct order and risk jail. Hopefully they will take the more difficult but safe route, quite the "force".
