Remember, these are just the "high profile" cases, but more or less it's every year since the 1880's
Sometimes 2 or 3 a year of "high profile", and of course the occasional gap of a year or three (not that these types didn't happen, but one less victim and it's just not as newsworthy)
One thing to note on the early ones, consider how easy it would be to completely hide the fact that a murder occurred at all. "The family moved", "died of sickness", "died by accidental fire", "drowned boating".
Very little scientific criminology in those days, especially in rural areas. Likely no autopsies to check for things like smoke or water in lungs even.
