    Tula SVT-40

I gathered this beauty this morning including the gas port adjustment wrench.

Can you shoot light and heavy ball?

I believe they're designed for the light ball only. Just going from memory - the heavy ball is too much for the gas system.

That's a beauty! Congratulations. I bet you though that stock has been refinished. I've both light and heavy ball out of mine when I had them. I mean, the gas system is adjustable so you can cut down on abuse from the heavy ball but going with light ball would probably be the best. Even then I'd adjust it just enough to get reliable operation. I remember once I was out shooting with some other Gunsneters. I had been running Albanian 7.62x54r in my SVT-40. Had the gas set up just perfect. Forgot and switched to Russian ball. Big difference, Albanian was kind of a weak sister compared to a lot of other suplus. First round I knew I had a problem as the op rod jumped it's mooring. Lesson learned.

I remember a gun store that had a bunch of those for $330, this was back in the early 90's. Wish I knew then what I know now, never did end up getting one.
Very nice rifle, congratz and enjoy. I think it is the PSL's that are light ball only, not sure though.

Should use the light ball only IMO.

    Thumbs up

Congrats on the Tok rifle. I wish I had gotten one back when they were new to the US. Dealer cost at the time was under $200.

I bet he would be. IIRC the chamber should be fluted.

Like a dumbass I sold 2 of them in 2001. You could get them pretty cheap in the 90's. Think I paid around $300 a piece. Ammo was crazy cheap. What a smoke pole.

You can shoot heavy ball with an adjustment of the gas regulator. It is quite accurate with heavier projectiles and hand loads.

Yes the neck and shoulder of the chamber are fluted.
