I just tried something WAY outside my comfort zone and I have to tell you its fantastic. Now to be clear, you won't want to use your $50-$70 bottles of bourbon here, but this is a great way to kick off a Sunday. I'm using Evan Williams. Rumor or legend has it that Ben Franklin drank these to mediate his gout. In the video recipe below the bartender uses simple syrup. I recommend a good maple syrup. Now I'm going to go find a nice Drew Estate Undercrown and enjoy the rest of my Sunday. Low & slow beef short ribs braised in red wine is on the menu for later. Cheers gents.

Mmmmm...and nothing wrong with Evan Williams. One of the better values out there.
I always keep a handle of Evan in the cupboard. I know this drink is way off the beaten path. I was very skeptical myself but a friend convinced me to give it a try. I had everything on hand so I said wtf. Glad I did.

I can see that not being bad. Years ago I used to mix Kahlua with milk, its good.
My mom has a friend that drinks scotch and milk every night before she goes to bed. That sounds disgusting, but you never know I suppose.
All that said, I'd be surprised if this concoction is a cure for gout, especially with BBQ.
C'mon! Is no one Smokin'!
Got a pour or two of Col EH Taylor Small Batch and a Puro Authentico from AJ Fernandez.
I had a DE Undercrown today along with this...FTW

That range looks strangely familiar.....
Btw: I smoked your Gurkha Titan just a little while ago after burning some red meat on the Weber this evening. At first I thought it was going to be a tad strong for my taste but was a pleasant surprise. Overtones of coffee, cedar, earth, & maybe a little chocolate? Something I normally wouldn't have bought myself but was a nice changeup from my usual fare.
Glad you enjoyed it. I have found them to be inconsistent. Glad you got a good one. Not something I will buy again, but not a total dog turd.
We did some Italian sausages and meatballs on the grill, shot the pictured AR, a Henry 30-30 and a Yugo underfolder. Weather was perfect. Trying to get in every minute I can before deer season.

That was my experience with gurkhas too.
Haven't been partaking lately. I've been slacking on my cardio so it's time to pay the piper.

Or, I think, same mashbill as Elmer T Lee(Buffalo Trace #2) but single barrel.
