Question What flashlights do you use?

Wasn't sure where this would get the most traffic but figured the Survival Forum wouldn't be the worst place to post this topic.

For EDC my wife and I carry the old standby Surefire G2 Nitrolon

    http://www.surefire.com/illumination...-nitrolon.html

These are old school incandescent but we've had them for years and they were pretty state of the art when we got them. Mine has been upgraded with a P61 lamp and is quite a bit brighter than my wife's stock G2 http://www.surefire.com/catalog/prod...p/category/61/.

    I keep a Fenix TK15 at work http://fenixtactical.com/fenix-tk15.html

    In my truck I have a Fenix TK35 http://fenixtactical.com/fenix-tk35.html

The TK15 is very nice with multiple brightness settings and a pretty slim profile. The TK35 is quite a bit bigger but man does it throw a beam.

I also keep a Streamlight TLR-3 on my Glock 35 and am well pleased with that.

In addition to the above I keep a couple of Mag-Lites in the house. One is a three battery model and the other is a four, both D cell. The four battery model could easily double as a bludgeon if needed. The three battery model is one I bought when I was an MP back in 1983 and except for replacing the bulb a few times it has served me well for over 30 years. Not the brightest flashlight any more but it still feels familiar and comforting in the hand. What lights up your night?

Streamlight Pro-Tac AAA in my pocket, and Streamlight TLR-1 on my bedside gun. Recently got a Surefire G2X for the AR, haven't used it yet though.

Maglite are so outdated its not even funny. Huge, heavy, dim, and inefficient.

I have a mess of mag lights of various sizes and one Pelican diving/firefighting light. The beam on the Pelican is so bright I think I can use it for a light saber!

I am issued a surefire, cheap plastic incandescent piece of shit

I buy and use Fenix flashlights, currently a pd32 is on my kit, my big TK needs to be sent in for repair, fell 50 feet onto contrete, worked for another couple weeks, occasionally have to bang on it to work and now nothing.

Boy did you open a can of worms question

Hand held tac lights: I have two of these, they are what I consider my primary light. Bright, immediate access to strobe, as well as lower levels that can be found with a couple clicks.

EDC keychain light: Small, bright, titanium for light durability.... just a tad expensive for an AAA light, but I like mine.

In the bugout bag, (the personal one, not the backup one.) Built like a tank, takes the same batteries that most of my lights use, at the time was less expensive. I still prefer the Klarus XT11 though.

My weaponlight, (Attached to my AR-15) is one of these:

with one of these installed, Malkoff Devices makes some of the best LED inserts on the market.

And in the truck I have one of these: http://amzn.com/B000WFRH9A also with a Malkoff dropin http://www.malkoffdevices.com/drop-i...o-fit-mag-lite

Most of you are probably familiar with those little 9-LED pocket lights that use 3 "AAA" batteries in a module that are useful around the house. They're OK for general use, right?
Recently, a regional chain store called Menard's had a single LED light of similar size on a rebate for a final price of only $2. This light puts out ~90 lumens for a normal price of about $5 and uses standard "AAA" alkalines! It has a rubber coated aluminum body with a rubber switch in the tailcap.

I put one in a metal clamp under the barrel of my AK and it gives me a nice bright white light clearly outlining the front sight of my AK at 25'+. And for only $5 with off-the-shelf batteries you can find anywhere!

I also have a 5-D cell Maglite for "bigger" jobs.
