I think they made the DAO in the M92, M92 compact and M92 Centurion as well as Inox versions. Could be wrong but if not it might make a difference exactly which model it is.

Without looking, the D models didn't hold their value the way the others did. Seems like it was more law enforcement driven than popular driven, so resale of the 92D was usually way below $500, closer to $400 even in very good to excellent condition. They are not bad pistols, just didn't have a following nor demand for them.

I've never heard of a hammerless Beretta 92. Why would you want one without an accessible hammer?

And for $150 more you could have an M9.....

Don't recall the exact details but the gist of it was there was a lawsuit against the police in a shooting and and they lost the case because the officer had cocked the hammer of his handgun prior to the shooting. Showed his "intent" to shoot or some such nonsense, but it set a precedent and other PDs were sued and hence a lot of LEAs required their officers to carry DAO handguns. Which led to the rise of the Glock.

The 92D is not truly hammerless as it does use a hammer as a striker, but the hammer is spurless since there is no way to cock the hammer of a DAO pistol, hence no need for the spur on the hammer.
