Finally shot my .308 Savage after getting it back from the factory.

Bought it two years ago and after 35 rounds the trigger locked up and it wouldn't fire. I sent it back to savage and they fixed and today, after mowing down by the river, I shot it again.

I set up the target at 100 yds and really didn't expect the 147 gr Mil-Surp FMJ to go through like the 3/8 steel plate was butter. I am impressed.

Congratulations. Can't see the pictures though and by your description I am a little disappointed.

I tried to push the envelope, but found that it was stationery.

Glad to hear you have a working rifle again.

As to steel plates, I have one that is for pistol or .22LR and can attest to the fact that most rifle rounds will go through them like they weren't there, and mine was "only" a .223.

Did the target even move when it was hit?

Good question. Inquiring minds want to know.

Savage said they replaced the trigger group.

    Yes, BDC.

The target spun like a top when it was hit.

The Accutrigger has an adjustment from 6lbs(IIRC) down to 2.5 lbs where I have it set. It sorta feels like a Glock trigger. You know, the little silver part of the trigger moves first then you can press the trigger to fire.

I think the scope was 179.00.
    As seen through the scope:

Very nice set up, I think the Nikon scopes are the best low cost optics out there. The rifle looks very similar to the Marlin I have.

Yeah, I just checked out the Marlin bolt actions. I didn't know they made any.
