Yugo M 48 Mauser Price check.

Local store has one for 175.00 Cash. Don't need one, but it is in decent shape. Checked gunbroker and lots have not sold at the 250.00 range. Ideas?

Mitchell's Mausers have "service grade" starting at $349.00 all the way up to A premium grade at $650. Now Mitchell's has always been high as the sky on their prices but even with that in mind I don't think $175.00 is a bad price depending on condition. I can't recall for sure but I seem to recall AIM and others having these at one time at a little over $100, don't recall what grade that was. If I was in the market for one I might consider it but if I wasn't I'd probably leave it for someone who was.

    Aren't Mitchell's forced number matched ?

I thought I read somewhere that they are worthless in the eyes of collectors 'cuz they refinish 'em and then claim they are numbers matching???
Here's to pussy and gunpowder. One to live for, the other to die by.....Goddamn though, I do love the smell of 'em both !!!

I believe you are correct but I'm not 100% sure MM did the matching. I thought these were are guns that Russia captured or otherwise acquired after WWII and they refurbed them and put them into storage. MM may have cleaned and refinished them using the numbers Russia stamped

They didnt at first but MM force matches/strips and refinishes the parts before assembling.

Well if it is at least VG condition I'd say that is a good price.

When I was a dealer I must of sold well over 100 of the Yugo M48 rifles. I never saw one with a dark bore or a worn muzzle. They all looked to have new barrels. I wish I'd of kept one of them, they really were quite a nice value. I was paying about $110 for them at that time and selling them for around $150.

Schuetz you seem to be doing a lot of wishing and kicking yourself in the ass these days.

I'd love another M48. I sold mine and my K98 off long ago. Still have 8mm laying around too. I'm sure I'll pick another up soon though.

If it's in good shape, that's a good price.
