These hearings are always just for show, bread and circuses to make the sheeple think things are going to change.

You know at the end of the day though that nothing will change at the IRS. They will continue targeting groups like the Tea Party on the right and Occupy on the left, just as nothing will change at the NSA with all their warantlesss wiretapping either.

Something about ignorance of the law is...
"And how we burned in the camps later thinking, what would things have been like, if every security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain, whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family?"

So you think we should just give up now I guess. I bet you'd love that.

Shits either gonna change the legal way or we're gonna see your cronies dancing at the end of a rope before the decade is out.

I bet he would change his attitude if he was reminded that a felony conviction means prison and loss of his pension.

There again, I expect bambam will get writer's cramp from all the pardons he signs at the end of his term.

I'm not in his district but I might send him a letter as a citizen of SC.

Damn it, I think every patriot in this country should stop stop paying taxes, and joun forces against the irs until this is settled. They can come to my house amd try to take me in. I am enraged by this they are goibg to get away with this. We now have two americas truly. The left, which is the criminal and the right which will remain the victims until we fight back.

It's one thing to use terrorism to make a political statement, but the wanton mutilation and suffering of innocents? How does that forward your political goals? When done in the name of religion, how does that earn you brownie points with God?

Fuck religious extremism. And especially fuck the "religion of peace." "

Documents show IRS also screened liberal groups:

    http://bigstory.ap.org/article/new-i...ng-was-broader

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Internal Revenue Service's screening of groups seeking tax-exempt status was broader and lasted longer than has been previously disclosed, the new head of the agency acknowledged Monday. Terms including "Israel," ''Progressive" and "Occupy" were used by agency workers to help pick groups for closer examination, according to an internal IRS document obtained by The Associated Press.

That story is over a year old and has been proven to be incorrect at best, and an outright lie at worst. Here is some newer information.

I'm confused? So IF the IRS targeted 2 or 3 groups with "liberty" in their name
and they happened to be Progrssive groups, it's ok and we should forget about it?

I don't think he had his ass handed to him. He stammered a bit, but kept to his point.

He and everyone else, excluding republicans apparently, know what this was about. Gowdy wanted to work out a way to say "the president" and "corruption" in the same sentence while looking like he was trying not to.

My bad, that was an old story.

Here's something more recent than even those links you posted: http://thinkprogress.org/politics/20...rds-tea-party/

The $50,000 to be paid by the IRS represents actual damages NOM incurred responding to the illegal disclosure, not punitive damages, since the marriage group was unable to prove disclosure of the confidential records was deliberate after Meisel took the Fifth.
Meaning the IRS agreed to pay NOM's legal fees, after NOM couldn't actually prove who leaked it, rather than face ongoing litigation. I would be very surprised if the IRS actually admitted wrongdoing. Although if it were the terms of getting it off their plate they may well have.

Your story is about 2 weeks later and can be summarized as, "oops, we were wrong about saying that liberal groups were targeted but they were still investigated so it is the same." The issue is the few, and I mean few, liberal groups that were investigated were selected due to irregularities in their applications (as was pointed out in the articles I posted) not because of their political beliefs. See, that is the real difference in how conservative groups and liberal groups were treated based on political ideology with the IRS, a government organization, seeking to silence conservative speech. There should be an angry outcry from liberals and conservatives on the governments violation of the First Amendment but liberals are doing their best to excuse and distract from a very serious problem. You are not helping by pushing false narratives that were proven false over a year ago and goes to show just how the MSM has ignored this except to try to bury this. Had the MSM reported as vigorously on the falseness of the claim that liberal groups were targeted as they did when they thought it was true, there would be a greater outcry from the populace.
