    Update to my problem...

Seeing how the other thread was locked even though it was an early devolpment with nothing illegal done on my side.

I contacted a lawyer, a real Sal bastard who told me to not discuss the issue with the police. I did a report and had it notarized and chalked it off as a bad judgement call.

The perp called me last night, said he had $5000 and that he wanted 4 AK type weapons. I declined and wished him my best as far as his cause goes. He was adamant that he needed these weapons by the end of this week and asked for the best place to get them in such a short amount of time. I told him to try a dealer and he laughed at the ideal.

He had a Virginia phone number this time.

At this juncture I am willing to bet that this is a fed who is deep in the shit and I hope I sent him on a different fishing trip and to be honest with you, I hope he catches some big fish in the process. Shouldn't be hard in this kind of economy.

    What I learned.
This is not Wisconsin, I never had a problem buying or selling firearms in WI. I frequently used Armslist as a tool to acquire some beautiful weapons in the past and I have sold a few out of my collection and used the money to acquire other items for this hobby that we all share, a hobby/lifestyle that all of us on this board love and hold true to our beliefs.

I will sell only on consignment at a dealer if I ever decide to sell a weapon again.

I learned there are no "brothers" on the net. People in this hobby community are frightened easily, even when discussing a legal transaction with fellow patriots while they sit on a high horse and lock down discussion. I admit I got spooked and morally I was in the wrong but by that juncture of the transaction there was no way to group my stature and press on. Legally, I am in the clear and I have nothing to hide, that is why I came to a public firearms forum with a question knowing that there is a group of guys here with backgrounds in the areas of law and enforcement of laws.

To lock a thread like that baffles me. It's not like I put anyone here in jeopardy, I needed advice at 2am. I have seen much worse go on for pages on other forums. I have been a member of gunsnet since 1999 and I have even contributed money to this site in the past but yet locked down when advice is trully needed cause a thread "creeps" someone out, just to have it unlocked so some asshat chimes in with his bs 2 cents.

I do want to thank a few people on this board for giving me the info I needed before the lock was thrown, I would have been lost without some of the wise advice given, you know who you are and thank you.

Completely agree with you about the other thread being locked. I have bought and sold a ton of guns, traded them off, sold at gun shows, sold some on gunbroker and had them shipped to ffl's. I totally get where you were coming from. The guy who chimed in on the other one AFTER it was locked kind of made an ass of himself. I wanted to chime in and offer you some support, but it was locked already.

I am sure you will end up fine. And personally, I am not so sure about it being a fed. All the kids? The hispanics? Who knows. Maybe they weren't criminals, but like many here are wanting to prep without everyone knowing.

The kids have me scratching my head too and I heard a nest full of kids in the background during my last phone call with him.

I didn't contribute anything to help, in the other thread, because I had no idea what the best course of action would have been. Glad the lawyer helped you out and glad you sent the sting agent to another fishing hole. Also, glad things turned out for the better for you.

Glad you are all good. Thanks for the follow up post. FWIW the 2nd contact from the buyer also reeks to me of a sting(aka countermeasure). Fortunately we'll never know.

Eh....They'd already have him if it was a sting. He did sell to them. Again, he did no wrong.....But if its a sting, and they wanted to get an innocent guy in trouble for selling a gun, that should have done it.

    Who knows.

No. There would be a couple buys...the first of which was legal.

I had a spooky experience selling a gun to a guy from a different forum. Met the guy at a Bass Pro parking lot. All was in order...FOID cards, etc. It was just not quite right. Nothing like what Chiak47 experienced but definitely set my hinkometer off.

I have been reading about these type of ops as of late and the premise is, is that the government knows where the guns come from, what they claim they are trying to do is follow the path of where they are going by running the tagged serial numbers from crime scenes in Mexico. That is what they claim but not verbatim.

maybe they needed me to sell one more, than they could get me with "knowingly" selling arms. I have heard of straw purchasers selling hundreds of weapons over years while the ATF conducted surveillance to not only capture the strawman but also the end users.

Who knows. The purpose of this thread, just like the other thread; is to warn others. nothing more/nothing less

Thanks, but there is a rifle out there possibly with some bad intentions. I pray it jams and explodes. Good news is, I forgot to put the bolt back in it after I cleaned it. I have an extra one for a 74 and I don't remember buying a extra bolt.

Curious, did you complete the transaction and have second thoughts after the deal or did you cut the deal off mid transaction?

Thanks for the link. I went out and found it on the 2nd page in. Sounds to me like the guy is probably a Drug Cartel person looking for arms, that or he's an Alkeda (sp) looking to arm the agents of Islam that have walked across our boarder. I hope neither is the case but your comment that he was blatant that it was leaving the country soon is not a good one.
