Yamaha cj-818sb guitar given to me.

My brother didn't want this guitar because his ex gave it to him, so it sat under his bed for over twenty years, and he just gave it to me. Although this image is not the actual guitar, it looks just like this:

It's a jumbo body style and it really played like crap, BUT it sounded good. So I got some extra light acoustic strings, took the old ones off and checked it all out. The neck bolt was loose so I tightened it up some, but that action was way too high. At the twelfth fret the low E string was almost 3/8 inch above the fret board. So took out the bridge piece and began filing it down about 25 thousands at a time with coarse sand paper. Today I got it real close and filed it a little more and I thought it was perfect but the low E string would touch a fret when you played up by the nut. So I loosened the strings and took a piece of the old low E string the same length as the bridge piece, and put it under the bridge as a spacer, and viola! It's plays great! Sounds great also. I mean this thing to me, plays almost as well as the 1900.00 Martin I looked at last month. I guess I got lucky.

A man can fall in love with a guitar as with a woman. Only there are more splinters.

Which one are you talking about; the guitar or the woman?

A guitar has to be played. where as a woman can provide her own splinters even if not stroked.

What brand of strings are you using? That model Yamaha should sound really good with a set of Martin Silk & Steel (10) strings.

Right now all they had was darco extra light. I have ordered two sets of Ernie Ball Earthwood extra lights. They play, sound and bend well on my Ovation.

    Stop it.

You're making me want to grow my hair long, grow a goatee, wear flowery clothes and a bard hat, and sing about princesses and dragons.

12 string guitars only have 6 extra strings, but they're 85 TIMES as likely to be used in a song about wizards.

The first guitar I bought was a JG double cutaway hollow body 12 string in green sunburst. Lol.

Ok so I need a thief, a cleric, and a fighter for this raid.

After performing the same tricks on my Ovation bridge, it is bad ass! The Yamaha can't touch it. The sound on the Yamaha is good, the action on the Ovation blows it away.
