So I was listening to some of my old-guy music and I was wondering...

new music is lifeless. i really stopped paying attention to it for the most part in the late 90's.

    don't worry, i don't get it either.

Well that's just it, no one writes music anymore. All of the new crap I have the misfortune of overhearing when out in public sounds like a commercial jingle for a feminine hygiene product.

Most youth today are shallow and materialistic. Raised by enabling parents who were brainwashed to think that the best way to raise your kids is to cater to their every whim. It is no wonder their music is one dimensional.

If I go to hell they'll be playing John Denver, Elvis, and disco music to make the torment complete.

As a youngin', I like me some mountain music, bluegrass, and golden country oldies.

Plenty of good stuff out there, but just like back in the day, most of it isn't on the radio/top 40.

    Try this by Alexi Murdoch

He's got a number of great mellow tunes, off the top of my head, "Breathe" is really worth the listen.

If it sounds familiar, you might be a Stargate fan, he did the background music for several episodes of Stargate Universe.

My music ranges from the 1930's to the late 1970's (excluding disco). Some 1980's stuff is OK.

Today's music doesn't even fall under the category of "music". I've heard worn out brake rotors that sounded better.

My daughters are in their teens and they like the music from the 70's almost more than what is out now.
When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail." ----- Jack Burton 1986

George Harrison memorial tree killed by beetles
A memorial tree planted in Los Angeles to honor the late Beatles musician George Harrison needs to be replaced after it was infested with real-life beetles.

My kids like Seether. The one song 'Tonight' is about as good as power pop gets. Tho they hate the fact I would call any of there stuff pop.

    Returns June 3rd.
